4 x James...
There’s a new high tea in town; the so Dutch Afternoon tea at Hotel De l’Europe
Last week Instagram Blogger Devina visited the ever so beautiful Hotel de l“Europe for their brand new “So Dutch afternoon” tea experience. Read the full review below and let us know what you think!
Let’s have some afternoon tea, shall we? The savory first; a deliciously warm mini quiche, smoked eel, and the ever so addicting Bitterballen. Next stop are the sweets; apple pie, yogurt mousse and Speculaas gingerbread house. Wait, wait, are we still talking afternoon tea? Like with scones, jam, and clotted cream?
Introducing: So Dutch Afternoon Tea
Well, not exactly. Let me introduce you: Hotel de l’Europe’s newly launched “So Dutch Afternoon Tea”. A unique and unconventional afternoon tea experience, where the only traditional things are the Dutch specialties like “Bitterballen” (fried meat snack), Speculaas” (spiced biscuit) and the beautifully crafted Heinen Delfts Blauw tableware. All this is served in their salon, overlooking a gorgeous view of Amsterdam’s canals and gingerbread houses. Can it get more Dutch than this?
Delicious Tea
Their fine tea collection consists of classics such as Earl Grey, but I recommend you to try the more exotic version “Bali”, a delicately scented green tea with balanced fresh, fruity and floral notes with a touch of lychee aroma. Simply divine! Signature cocktails or mocktails are also available for those of you who like to spice it up a little.
Dutch specialties
It was an afternoon tea experience to try at least once, if not more! Perfect for tourists who like to taste Dutch specialties in a more sophisticated setting, but also for afternoon tea lovers who like to try something less conventional. I mean Bitterballen, surely that changes the afternoon tea game! Curios now? Go try it for yourself!
The “So Dutch Afternoon Tea” is served in Hotel de l’Europe Amsterdam from Thursday until Sunday 13:00 – 17:00 . Every last Saturday, there will be an artist present to perform a live Delfts Blue painting session. Reserve by email restaurant@deleurope.com or phone +31 (0)20 531 16 19.
